General Tips: our goal here is a minimalist approach

  • We suggest a good thorough cleaning of your premises: clean floors, vacuuming, clear countertops to a minimalist, and don’t forget to have clean windows! (Your prospects want to clearly see outside:))

  • We advice that all lights be turned off

  • All appliances should generally be turned off; this includes ceiling fans

  • All TVs should be turned OFF including laptops and computers

  • Remove personal photographs

  • Bedrooms should be neat, tidy, and clean (prospects don’t want to see a messy room!)

  • Place all shoes/jackets in closets or so the are not visible

Dining Room

  • Make that dinner table shine! *Major attraction, dust and polish (Flowers in the middle are a nice and pleasing touch)

  • Make sure chairs are straight and even

Kitchen (this one is huge! Clients are typically most interested in a good  looking and presentable kitchen. Wow your prospects!)

  • With all set in mind, clear countertops completely

  • At most, there should only be one appliance (Blender, coffee maker, toaster, etc.)

  • Your refrigerator should be presentable, we're talking about the inside! That means the exterior of your fridge should be clear of magnets, photos, notes, calendars, etc.)

  • Hide garbage cans in pantry or closet

  • Remove dishes from sink or place them in the dishwasher

  • Most importantly, clean up your landscape

  • Garage doors, sauna doors, shed doors (we want those to be closed)

  • Remove cars from driveway and from the front of your home

  • No sense in empty planters, move those too :)

  • Remove these items from visibility, remember: our minimalist approach- no toys, sports balls, basketball goals, soccer goals, etc.

▪    Countertops should be completely clean and tidy. With that said, No soap, toothbrushes, medications, deodorant, etc.

  • Toilet seats down

  • Remove shampoo, soap, loofahs, etc. from showers and tubs▪    Close closet doors

  • Customers want to see your floor, remove floor mats, carpets, and shower mats

  • Leave out only new, unused towels

Living Room

  • Papers, mail, magazines, letters, etc. should not be visible (that’s your clutter!)

  • Generally, clients don’t want to see so many paintings, we suggest no more than four!

  • Clean interior of fireplace (ok, you can have firewood in the middle)

  • Fluff and arrange furniture pillows

Backyard (same idea as the front)

 ▪    Note* we want a clean and presentable backyard.

 - That means: no visible trashcans, a clean pool, a good sweeping of the backyard shall do (no leaves)

- Get rid of those toys, balls, etc.

- Old dusty furniture should also be dealt with

Bedrooms (Try and make bedrooms look minimalistic and clean)

  • With that said, all beds should be made and ready pillows fluffed(kind of like when you first check into your hotel room)

  • Press bed linens and bed skirts

  • Try and rid of your personal belongings

  • Cables, phones(unless if you have an antique phone from the 19th century), watches, jewellery, etc. should be stowed away

  • Remove clutter from top of dressers

  • Remember, we kindly ask that all personal photos be stowed away

  • Remove items from under the beds that may show in the photos
